The 2018 Wyss Film Festival
At the close of 2018, I celebrated the conclusion of the 8th annual Wyss Film Festival. Even on a steady decline, I was still able to watch 167 different movies over the course of the year. It was the lowest yearly total to date, more than 30 shy of the previous low I set a year before (200). More often than not, I usually have to divide movies into multiple viewings. The free time certainly isn't as abundant as it was for the first annual Film Festival. Fortunately, the quality of films has still been high. And I've been steadily knocking off every film ever nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture. Over the last 8 years, I've seen 475 of the 546 nominees (87%). Only 71 to go! Once again, a huge thanks goes out to the Demmer Public Library in Three Lakes for fueling my addiction with free access to a seemingly unlimited supply of films. As I begin the 2019 Wyss Film Festival, I leave you with the complete list of all the talking pictures I saw in 2018!
