The 2015 Wyss Film Festival
The "Wyss Film Festival" turned five years old in 2015! Over the course of those five years, I've viewed 1,184 different films. Using an average of 105 minutes per film, that's over 86 days worth of movies. Dang! When you quantify it like that, it sure seems like an immense waste of time. But on the other hand, my time management skills have become second-to-none. And most of the time, I'm usually working on projects or catching up on emails while I'm watching these movies. And now that my bedtime has gotten earlier and earlier, most of the films are broken up across multiple nights to make it more manageable. 2015 saw more films than 2014, which was down significantly from the previous three years (I've included a fancy chart of my yearly total trends). And as with previous years, I only paid money to see one or two of these films (mostly thanks to the Demmer Public Library). I also started volunteering in the projection booth at the one-screen theatre in Three Lakes. Who knows how long I can keep this up, but with all the great filmmaking in the world today it's definitely something I'm going to continue for at least another year. We'll see how it goes.
